Annette Blackett
I am the Primary Courses Coordinator and an experienced Primary educator
with varied teaching and teacher training practice in Australia, England, Mozambique
and Papua New Guinea.
As a lifelong learner,
I continually ask myself two very important questions. ‘Why do I do what I do?’ and ‘Who am I, as a
child of God and an educator?’ I seek God daily for His purpose in my life as I guide, support and influence the lives of others climbing the education mountain.
My deep hope for
pre-service teachers is that they gain the necessary academic knowledge and best
practice preparation needed to succeed as a teacher, but most importantly that
they fully discover who they are in Christ, ‘chosen’ as the next generation of educational
leaders.

As the Executive Dean, Faculties, I oversee the Education faulty and the Humanities & Social Science faculty. I am also Chair of the Scholarship Committee, which focuses on teaching & learning in the college. What I love most is my work as a Senior Lecturer in Pedagogy, in Spirituality and in Ethics subjects. I love teaching and consider it a privilege and great responsibility to teach teachers! I believe in the transforming power of enabling students to think critically and reflectively, and to accept personal and educational challenge; as T.S Eliot famously said, 'Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go!
