    HSW113.8 Writing Creative Nonfiction

This subject covers a wide range of creative nonfiction forms, including personal memoir/biography, as well as more journalistic/consumer-driven forms such as travel, sport, food, blogging and review writing. Students study a range of compositions to enhance their appreciation of the historical development and technical requirements of these various forms. With a focus on the principles of crafting a narrative and techniques for engaging an audience, students identify topics of interest and develop their own personal essays, articles, reviews etc. Through collaborative writing workshops and an investigation of potential markets, students work together to develop their own “true stories well told”, with a view to publication.
