We all feel sad and gloomy at times, however some people
experience these feelings intensely, for long periods of time
(weeks, months or even years) and sometimes for no apparent
reason. Depression isn’t just feeling down now and then– it's
a serious condition that affects your physical and mental
health.
If you are struggling with feelings of ongoing depression, it
is important that you seek help ASAP. A GP can provide
appropriate advice, strategies and medication (if needed). A
GP can also provide you with a Mental
Health Plan which
lets you claim up to 10 sessions with a psychologist or
mental health social worker each calendar year: If they bulk
bill you won’t have to pay anything. Or you will be charged
the Medicare gap which is normally a lot cheaper than the
full fee. https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/individuals/subjects/whats-covered-medicare/mental-health-care-and-medicare
