The focus of this subject is for the class to successfully produce a public performance of a musical. Content includes planning the show, organising copyright and licensing, managing auditions, setting cast roles, booking a venue, marketing and promotions, establishing a band or orchestra, creating and participating in a rehearsal schedule, making sets and blocking the stage, using sound equipment, and managing the financial budget of the musical. Students will need to work individually, as well as collaboratively, demonstrating both leadership and team-work skills. Engaging with local community members, as well as applying skills and content from HM6017, will be key to producing a high-quality and successful performance.
