This subject examines Systems Theory and Family Therapy and explores how these practices have emerged and how to work within them. The purpose is to help students recognise philosophical and contextual influences, emerging processes and practices and the impact they have on therapy. This subject encourages students to develop personal awareness of the systems that they are a part of including their own family system. It also considers how an understanding of systems can be applied to counselling practice with the aim of encouraging a positive outcome for individuals, couples, children and families.
